Graduation 2018-19 School Year

This past year saw the Apoyo Program with 125 students from grade 4 to the end of high school.. In addition, we facilitate the support of 11 university students whose sponsors want to continue in their lives.  El año pasado, el Programa de Apoyo contó con 125 estudiantes desde el grado 4 hasta el final de la escuela secundaria. Además, facilitamos el apoyo de 11 estudiantes universitarios cuyos patrocinadores desean continuar en sus vidas. GRADE 12 GRADUATES  Of the 125 students, 17 are high school graduates,  ALL going onto post secondary education.  De los 125 estudiantes, 17 son graduados de la escuela prepa, y todos van a la educación postsecundaria. We  support the students outside of the classroom with.:  Computers & Internet for Homework for all Chuburnà students English Classes & Camp for all Chuburnà students   Free Tutoring for program students ********************************************************************* COMPUTERS & INTERNET FOR HOMEWORK  See the BLOG  Computers and Internet for Homework ENGLISH CLASSES started in the fall of 2017 under the direction of volunteer Myrla Boesch with volunteers, Sonya Damon, Candace & Jim Ducharme, Mike Smyth & Dee Finlay, Phyllis Nordhoff, Mindy Mathius, Myra King and Frances Cummings.  It has evolved to a program offered every Saturday morning from 11:00 to 12:00 at our office in Chuburn á under the direction of Sonya Damon.  Candace Ducharme created 10 lesson plans to guide the work of the volunteers who work in pairs. BACK TO SCHOOL 2018-19

BackPack day, Saturday, August 18, 2018 10:00-1:00 made possible by the generosity of our 98 sponsors..  Thanks to Sean O´Kane who joined directors Eva, Dorothy and Jo-Anne in setting up the supplies the afternoon of August 15th and  to Gord Kaytor for all the heavy lifting.  .   Thanks to Linda Lofstrum-Piolunek, Donna Camp and Sherri Sullivan who, together with Directors, Eva, Dorothy and Jo-Anne filled 89 backpacks on August 16th .  Thanks to Donna Smart for bringing lunch..  On Saturday 112 of our students received either a backpack and/or registration fees.  Books purchased by our 50 high school students will be reimbursed for receipts once school begins.  SET-UP SCHOOL SUPPLIES ARE LAID OUT ACCORDING TO PRIMARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS BACK PACKS ARE READY TO FILL  VOLUNTEERS HAVE A LIST FOR EVERY STUDENT TO USE TO FILL THAT STUDENT´S BAG...   TAKING FULL BAGS TO ...
