Back to School 2016-17

GETTING 100 STUDENTS READY FOR SCHOOL IS NO SMALL FEAT!!! Beverly and Jo-Anne begin to buy supplies in April and May for 71 backpacks and shoulder bags. Our Money Manager Extraordinaire, Beverly,  organizes envelopes: of information for all the students explaining what is happening on BackPack Day and including the cards they need to order their uniforms and shoes from local stores and the middle school. with money to reimburse our 21 COBAY high school students for their registration fees and their books. with money to reimburse our 11 CETMAR high school students for their registration fees with money to be given to students who attend specialized high schools in Merida.    NOTE: all students provide receipts for their expenses in order to continue receiving money for subsequent semesters. Jo-Anne, with Ligia, manages the record of grades from all students ensuring that all grades are in and are current in order for students to receive their envelopes for

Primary School Awards Day 2016

The Festival was colorful and fun.  The Awards Day is a celebration of the Academic Achievements.   All the students in our program received certificates of recognition/graduation and so are featured in this BLOG.  We are especially pleased to tell you that the Grade 5 and 6 winners of awards for the highest marks were our students, Kevin, Laura N, Laura P, Fernanda,  Jesús and  Lezli.                                  We are proud of them as are their sponsors! Hilary, Laura N and  Fernanda have been chosen to be part of the Honor Guard, called the Escolta, next year because of their excellent marks. Every Monday the Honor Guard is part of the ceremony to begin the week, including a poem about the flag and the singing of the Mexican anthem.  They also preside over all special events  Passing the flag to the new Honor Guard  Hilda receives her recognition for being  in the Honor Guard  Laura P receives her award for being in the Honor Guard  Fernanda
